G'day all,

I'm keen to get a pair of ducks for egg production but would also like to get a drake at some stage to breed some meat birds.

I grew up on a farm so butchering our meat is just a part of life, my wife on the other hand isn't as keen on the idea. With that in mind I'd be leaning closer to an egg breed that's still a good table bird.

I've read that aylesbury are the best meat birds but poor layers. Khaki's are meant to be good layers but less so with meat. Wondering if pekins would be a good middle ground?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Cheers.
